This week was very slow; I only worked one day and it was in the office. There wasn't much work for me to do on that one day, I was simply doing some basic intern work throughout. On Fridays we always have catering for lunch, and this Friday we had it from a BBQ place 20 minutes away so I went to pick up the food for everyone. Other than eating, I helped one of the employees out with a themed "Princess and Pirates" night by helping create a flyer and sticking it into the programs to hand out to the fans. The flyer looked very basic, only including the bare minimum about the night (time, date, pictures of princesses and pirates). Overall, a very basic and simple day/week.
As you could see, there were some days in the office where Derek didn’t necessarily need our help with any major projects, so we were stuck doing some stereotypical “intern work”. These days would be called tedious, to say the least. These days aren't as memorable as the rest, or perhaps they were memorable but in the wrong fashion! I figured someone had to take care of this task, so of course the company was going to make an intern do it, and I was completely OK with that. Every Friday the Rock Cats had food catered, so they placed it upon an intern to drive and pick up the food. I also spent a lot of time cutting pieces of paper with a pair of academic scissors. Although these aspects of the internship weren’t as glamorous as the rest, I knew that they were tasks that needed to be accomplished in a crunch period of time and that it wasn’t something too difficult where an intern couldn’t handle it.
