This week I worked both in the office and on the game days. In the office, I made some calls to businesses who would be interested in buying a ticket package for a specific night. I was able to make a sale to one of the companies! It was my first big sale with the Rock Cats, so it gave me that boost of confidence I needed. I worked two games this week, one at the Prize Wheel in the Merchandise Shop and the other doing promotions on the field. Nothing too exciting happened on the game days, just looking forward to going back into the office to make some more sales.
I've also learned to love working the Prize Wheel; The Prize Wheel was set up right outside of the shop, and it was simple enough; for $3 a spin, you could win ANYTHING that was set up on the table, it just depended on what you landed on. No matter what, everyone was guaranteed to win something! We had the Wheel consisting of everything from a strikeout to a home run. This attracted many more customers than the pop-a-shot, and I was able to make the most money at this stand out of every intern. The prizes were similar to pop-a-shot, and every day they changed based on the inventory in the shop. My personal selling class in Tiffin helped me interact with these customers and persuade them to try out the prize wheel. And I instantly found a target market: children. Whenever a child was walking by with their parent, I would make sure to spin the wheel myself, and that was all I needed to grab their attention. I liked working the prize wheel due to my competitive nature, and I always wanted to make the most sales out of anyone. This not only benefitted the Rock Cats but myself as well.
